Genuine handcrafted 925 Sterling Silver ring depicting the world serpent Jormungandr in the traditional Viking Urnes art style. Urnes style art was the last phase of Viking art found on Scandinavian architecture and art carvings with its first appearance on the door of the Norway Urnes stave church, however it is most widely known as the Runestone art. This ring is smoothly polished on the inside for comfortable wear, and comes in a variety of sizes. For more information on how to accurately measure your finger size, please refer to our Ring Sizing Guide image in the photo slideshow.
Jormungandr is the enormous world serpent, which by the legends was tossed into the ocean by Odin. Finding safety and plethora of food in the ocean’s waters, Jormungandr has grown so big that he managed to coil around the land and grasp its own tail with its jaws. In Norse mythology, this serpent biting his own tail is another iconography of cycle of eternity, and once Jormungandr releases its tail, the eternity shall end and the end of all worlds, Ragnarok, shall begin.
