The wolf cross was believed to originate from Celtic cross, that was brought to Iceland with Irish monks. Celtic cross is an old symbol of Odin’s sun wheel cross that later on transferred to Celtic Christianity. Original Celtic crosses were typically even armed crosses within a circle that were found at Celtic graveyards and spiritual sites. Later versions of this cross were found without the circle, resembling the standard Christian cross but with abundant Celtic engraving embellishing the cross
